Human Rights for Women in Kurdistan
ASK and BCC organized the first course from October 15th to November 5th, 2000. Twenty-eight women, representing women organizations in Sulaymania, participated in the course. The course outlines were derived from UN documents on human rights. During the first two weeks of the course, lecturers focused on the human rights of women and women's situation in Kurdistan. During the third week, participants were invited to write about women issues that should be focused on in Kurdistan. Each participant read her writing in the front of other participants.
The second course was held from January 16th to February 3rd, 2001. Forty women, representing woman organizations in Sulaymania and various governmental departments participated in the course. The course program was similar to the first training program.
The third course was conducted in Darbandikhan, Kirkuk from May 26-June 12, 2001. Thirty women, representing woman organizations in Kirkuk participated in the course. The course program was similar to that of the previous training courses.
The fourth course was conducted near Sulaymania (Beker-Jow) from August 18-September 1, 2001. Thirty women, representing woman organizations in Beker-Jow participated in the course. The course program was similar to that of the previous training courses.
